Things
I've Learned at Sea

We met Bill Pinkney for the first time in Hobart,Tasmania
when he was on a round the world voyage. His goal
was to create programs to introduce inner city youths
to the possibilities that lay beyond their imaginations.
He's done some great work and when we saw him last
year he handed us a calling card which is quoted
here:
• Things I've Learned at Sea
• You are smarter than you think
• You are dumber than you think
• Help is always there if you ask
• Clean up your room
• People make nations and successful organizastions
• It takes as long as it takes
• Getting knocked down is not failure
• Adversity Ends
• There is a difference between dreams and fantasy
• Dreams do come true.
I think Bill's list is pretty comprehensive but
I would like to add one more point which comes from
Penny Whiting a sailor who has helped hundreds of
other women learn to enjoy sailing:
• If it is too hard, you probably aren't doing it
right!
